I was at an event the other day talking with a longtime married acquaintance of mine. The conversation went something like this:
***all names have been changed for privacy purposes***
Dave: "So, Bev, how's your love life ? Do you have a boyfriend ?"
Me: "No one special, I am dating."
Dave: "You should meet Andrew, he's single, wealthy and good looking."
Me: "Yeah, but isn't he a big Republican ?"
Dave: "Yes."
Me: "You know I'm a Democrat, right ?"
Dave: "So what if your politics don't coinside ? It works for James Carville and Mary Matalin,"
Me: "Good point."
Dave: "You will have to wait a bit though, he's probably going to jail."
Me: "Wait, what ? For what ?"
Dave: "Money laundering. But his sentence will probably only be a year."
Me: "Yeah, no thanks. *pause* Is he really going to jail ?"
Dave: "Yes, but it's only money laundering, not murder !!!! He'll be out in a year, you can wait for him and then get engaged."
Me: (blinks a few times in disbelief) "I don't think so."
Dave: "He's a nice Irish guy with a lot of money ! He was the fall guy !"
Me: "I don't do convicted felons."
Dave: "Ok, but you're missing out."
Me: "I don't think so, but thanks for the offer."
